A LASIK Eye Surgeon Can Remedy Visual Impairments

LASIK eye surgery continues to surge in popularity as an effective tool to correct faulty vision. Those who have received laser eye surgery swear by its effectiveness in changing their lives through a clearer view of the world around them.

Note, however, that LASIK eye surgery is not a one-size-fits-all kind of solution for eye problems. There are certain limitations to the conditions under which a LASIK surgeon may apply such surgery to a patient.

Eye Conditions for LASIK

Basically, there are three visual impairments which qualify a person for this kind of surgery: nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Nearsightedness allows a person to see only nearby or up-close objects clearly, while objects at a distance appear blurred.

Meanwhile, farsightedness is the opposite of nearsightedness: You see far-away objects clearer than you do those objects very close to you. Astigmatism causes blurriness no matter the distance of objects.

However, understand that just because you suffer one of the aforementioned sight conditions, you should not assume you are eligible for laser surgery. You must still undergo a thorough consultation with your eye doctor to confirm if this is the best and safest procedure for your eyes’ condition. Ask your eye doctor about LASIK eye surgery if you think it may be the answer to your visual problem.
